Few of us are getting to explore the world this summer, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have the time of our lives. In fact, there are plenty of home improvements to make that will create a domicile worthy of the best staycation, ever. Keep reading to find out what they are.
Install a tiki bar
The trend of the season is all about bringing the bar life to you. The best thing is that you can really do it in style. In fact, several retailers are selling tiki-style bars, including Asda and John Lewis. You can also follow this tutorial and have a go at making your own as well if you are feeling crafty.
The great thing is that you don’t have to scour vintage sites to get appropriate tiki ware either with sets of five tiki mugs going for around £30 on amazon. Just don’t forget the flower leis, and those little pink umbrellas that don’t seem to serve any purpose, but sure look cute!
Set up a home cinema

We’ve all watched our fair share of movies during Lockdown, but if you really want to enhance your experience, how about installing a home cinema in your property? We’re not talking a 4K telly and some Netflix here either, but an actual room all kitted out with the latest audiovisual e some genuine cinema chairs as well.
Ok, so it may not be the cheapest option here, but it will definitely be one of the most fun and will add oodles of value to your property as well.
Fire up the grill
I don’t know about you, but BBQing has become something of a staple for us this summer. After all, you get to go outdoors, have some fresh air, and eat some good grub alfresco. Of course, to ensure that your kebabs and burgers are cooked rather than cremated, it helps to have a proper gas BBQ rather than those disposable trays.
You may even wish to take things a little further and create an outdoor kitchen space where you can prep your food as well. A topic you can find out more about in the video below.
Although if you do decide to go for this latter option in the UK, remember to make your outdoor kitchen pass at least particle covered., After all, even the best weather apps don’t seem to be able to predict random downpours, and I wouldn’t want all your sausages getting soggy!
Build a fort
Now you may think that fort building, either inside or out of doors is just for kids. Fortunately, you’d be wrong. In fact, building a fort from sofa cushions and old sheets is a wonderful way to while away an afternoon. It can even be really romantic if you add fairy lights and cushions.
The great thing about creating a fort is that you get to hang out and have snacks in it afterwards. Something that makes it the perfect activity to do after a mornings baking, or hard toil in the garden.
