Interior designers know that redesigning the rooms in your house from time to time is an excellent way to improve your mental health and stay inspired. Most people get bored with the same look after a while, whether it’s the clothes you wear or the colour of your hair. Changing something about your appearance or a room in your home can inspire you in some unexpected ways. Here are some creative ways to redesign your bathroom.
Replace your mirrors with chalkboard
If you’re not super excited about how you look in the morning, consider swapping your mirrors for a chalkboard. You can buy chalkboard online and have it cut to any size so it will exactly fit where your bathroom mirror once was, or maybe they will go around the walls above the bathtub. Use different coloured chalk to write inspiring quotes and positive affirmations all over your bathroom. Get creative and change them around depending on how you feel so that you always stay inspired.
Make your bathroom sparkly
The bathroom is one of the best places in the house to add sparkle if that’s your thing. Grey sparkle shower panels can be installed in the shower and bath area or even behind the sink instead of tiles. They come in many colours, silver sparkle, gold sparkle, black sparkle – even pink sparkle. There’s no better way to add some glitz and glamour to your bathroom than making it sparkly. Picture the way the walls will shimmer in the light of a candle, as you relax in a steaming bath with some aromatherapy oils burning.
Upcycle a bicycle for your sink
If you’re into recycling and upcycling, then this idea is sure to inspire you. An old bike can be transformed into a bathroom sink. Bolt the bike frame onto the wall and fasten a shelf to the crossbar, this will be the support for the sink. Then install the sink on top of the bike and use the basket for your toiletries. Any bike can be used for this, use an old favourite or salvage one from the internet.
Bring the outdoors indoors
One of the best and easiest ways to bring inspiration into your bathroom is by bringing the outdoors indoors. There are loads of ways to do this. You could install hooks in the ceiling and hang pots from chains. In the pots you can put any plant you like just make sure they have enough light. One of the great things about this idea is that the plants don’t require much watering; the steam from your bath or shower keeps them from getting too thirsty.
Make towel racks out of ladders
Upcycling is an excellent way to ensure that unused items don’t go to waste. Sets of wooden ladders make perfect towel racks. Ladders come in all shapes and sizes; some might fit into your bathroom exactly while others might need a bit of cutting first. Use your creativity and decide what style of racks you want. When you have them cut to size, you can leave them with a rustic wood effect or paint them in any colour you like.
