Perhaps your house is not the largest in the neighbourhood, but you can create a home that makes people want to come for an evening of fun and fellowship. You just need to convert your home into a haven for guests. With five main focuses (the bar area, gaming area, refreshment area, smoking area, and guest rooms), you will have all of your bases covered whether you’re hosting a party for friends or some other social event.
The Bar Area
Invite guests to your home and tell them they can bring their own beverages. Develop a menu of snacks and appetizers that can be served from the bar, such as nuts and fruit, savouries like olives and pickles, and bar drinks like juices and sodas. Ask guests to sign a “bar tab” so you can keep track of their alcohol intake, which will help you and them from having had too much to drink.
If your budget is small, look for rental bargains on bar essentials, such as wine glasses and cocktail shakers. You can save a lot of money doing it through a catering company.
Gaming Area
Entertain your guests with more than just drinks and snacks; provide them with fun activities that they can do while socializing. This may be achieved through board games or video games on the Wii, Xbox 360, or PlayStation 3. You could even have a dartboard or two in the game area.
If your guests are coming with their children, you can make an entire evening out of this area by hosting other fun activities like playdates, barbecues for kids, and storytime.
Refreshment Area
The refreshment area is any place where food and non-alcoholic drinks are being served. If the bar area is a separate room, this portion should be inside of it. If not, you will need to set up a table with refreshments and another area for dirty dishes or disposable cups.
Smoking Area
In many public places, smoking has been banned from indoor areas. This means that smokers have to go outside to smoke, where they will invariably bother non-smoking guests. If you are serving drinks, you can create a separate smoking area where smokers get the pleasure of their cigarettes without bothering others.
Bonus Tip: To really spruce up your entertainment offering take a look at garden hot tubs which is a brilliant addition and will add lots of fun for young and old!
Guests Room
Provide guest rooms for your overnight guests if they wish to stay the night. You should also consider hosting game nights or other activities where guests can stay overnight. If your house does not have guest rooms, your floor and sofa may do just fine as a place for people to sleep.
There You Have It!
With these five areas covered, you will be ready to throw a party at any time. Once you’ve prepared your home with all the extra features it needs to entertain, the only thing left is to decide who will be invited and to choose a few fun activities for your guests!
