Why Vinyl Is The Most Versatile Flooring Option For Your Home

Most of us struggle to pick the right flooring for our homes. You have tonnes of options to pick from, including classic options like carpet and hardwood, as well as modern varieties like laminate or herringbone. All of these flooring options have good pros and cons and are excellent in some scenarios – but there’s a singular flooring type that’s more versatile than them all.

Yes, we’re talking about vinyl flooring. This flooring type is made from multiple layers of synthetic materials and is comfortably the most versatile choice for any home. Why? Well, a quick look at some of vinyl’s key properties instantly demonstrates its sheer versatility…

It’s waterproof

Some flooring options – like carpet or laminate – are excellent in different parts of your home. However, you never choose them for kitchens or bathrooms, as they’re not waterproof. Most flooring suppliers will recommend vinyl flooring for bathrooms and kitchens these days. It’s more affordable than stone or tiled floors, making it the most cost-effective waterproof flooring option.

At the same time, you have a flooring option that still looks great and works well in other parts of your home!

You’ll find many styles & designs

Part of the reason vinyl flooring works so well throughout the home is down to its unique aesthetic. This flooring can be made to replicate other flooring types, such as:

  • Tiles
  • Natural stone
  • Wooden floorboards

As a result, it offers the same visual appeal as these floors, but at a much more affordable cost – and without any of the downsides these flooring options bring. The fact you have so many styles adds to the versatility; it’s easy for anyone to pick a design that suits their interior design ethos.

Vinyl flooring is highly durable

Some flooring types look great but lack durability. That’s not the case with vinyl! As noted in the introduction, this flooring is comprised of many layers of materials. Having these layers means it shows excellent strength and durability.

In other words, it will withstand heavy usage and shouldn’t be easy to damage. You could even drop a saucepan or a bottle on it in the kitchen, and it won’t dent or crack. If you want a floor that’s built to last, this could be your best choice.

It’s comfy to walk on

One of the best features of carpeted flooring is how comfortable it is to stand on. Unfortunately, it lacks a lot of versatility when compared with other flooring types. That’s why most rooms in homes are laid with laminate, stone, tile or hardwood floors. But these floors all have one downside: they’re quite cold to walk on, especially in the winter.

Vinyl flooring offers the ideal middle ground between carpet and everything else. It’s not as comfy as carpet, but it’s still quite warm to walk on and far better than the rest.

To conclude, vinyl flooring is a versatile and brilliant way of modernising your home. It’s an option to consider if you want to update the flooring or are looking for a main flooring type to have in almost every area of your house. Carpet works well in bedrooms and living areas, but for everything else there’s vinyl!
